IT Nexus begins integration project with the City of Richardson, TX

The City of Richardson's Streets Department manages its work orders using the City's AS400-based H.T.E. system. A limitation of the H.T.E. work order module is that it does not provide a map from which to visualize work orders or find and report work order activity by area - compromising the Department's ability to efficiently plan work as well as track and report work accomplishments.

An initial approach considered by the IT Department was to create a GIS tool that allows workers to enter street repair data to the GIS, but this approach would create duplicate work order data with one set of data stored in H.T.E. and another stored in the GIS.

IT Nexus is implementing a more efficient method that will minimize the need for re-entering data. Using a web service that “publishes” the relevant H.T.E. work order information, we then user our nexVIEWer-Flex platform technology to create an easy-to-use, web-GIS viewer for the work order data. The new Asphalt Repair Tracking Tool provides accesses the H.T.E. work order data and allows the user to query, display and edit Work Order data from the GIS.
